Fast Fashion Isn't Cheap

Mariam was commissioned as part of Common Wealth Theatre's (National Portfolio arts Organisation) 'There Is An Alternative' exhibition. This exhibtion invited artists to explore alternative ways of doing things, which are not considered the norm. For her piece, Mariam explored alternatives to fast fashion. She produced four full outfits, all upcycled or made from scratch, with animal heads to tell the story of a fast fashio garment. This was accompanied by an online space, accessed via QR codes at the exhibition, that provided more information about the fast fashion industry (research contributed by co-creator Natasha Pearson)
